Take Action to Protect the Sax-Zim Bog from Water Pollution

The Sax-Zim Bog is a precious natural and economic resource. It supports as many as 240 avian species, is an internationally popular destination for birders and other recreators, and it supports a variety of industries including mining and logging. A massive tailings disposal area known as the Eveleth Taconite Tailings Basin lies within 10 miles of the bog already and is seeking to expand by 1,300 acres under a 30-year-old federal permit. Such extensive destruction of wetlands inside this special area should be reviewed rigorously under current guidelines. Use the form below to ask the Army Corps of Engineers to prioritize the protection of natural resources for long-term environmental and economic goals over one mine's proposal.
