Pell Grants are the cornerstone of federal financial aid, enabling nearly 9 million students a year to afford higher education and post-secondary job training at a time when our recovering economy is in dire need of skilled professionals. The Pell Grant maximum award is set at $5,550 for students from the lowest income backgrounds for this coming year. Some proposals in Congress would not fully fund the Pell grant, effectively eliminating grant access to hundreds of thousands of students while millions more would have their awards deeply cut.
Please sign to tell your Congressmen to fully fund the Pell Grant.
Protect the Pell Grant
If our country is to emerge from our economic downturn, we must continue our investment in the students and workers who are the future of our workforce by fully funding the Pell Grant program this year. Proposals in Congress to cut Pell Grant funding will eliminate grant access to hundreds of thousands of students while millions more will have their awards deeply cut.
I urge my Representatives and Senators in Congress to fully fund the Pell Grant program and oppose any effort to cut funding.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
