Last week our friends from the Virginia Catholic Conference, the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia (SBCV), and the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists (VAIB) at a Press Conference in the General Assembly building. We stood united against the budget proposal enabling millions of dollars to go to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers in what would effectively become a "slush fund." This budget proposal is for a pilot program distributing Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (or "LARCs") through the abortion industry. These abortion providers will be able to bill the state for contraceptive implants, some of which can cause abortions, and are intended to prevent pregnancy for up to ten years!Currently, Virginians give Planned Parenthood approximately $150,000 every year in funding for programs and paying for abortions in very limited circumstances. The proposals would increase that amount over twenty to forty times! At a time when the entire budget is held up because healthcare dollars are scarce, launching a new pilot program administered by the abortion industry under the guise of caring for women ought to be an easy cut to make. The General Assembly still has not addressed this in their budget, and they need to hear from you right away about this. Please contact your legislators today and tell them not to fund Virginia’s abortion industry to the tune of millions of dollars!
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from The Family Foundation.
Dear [Decision Maker],
I oppose increasing funding to Virginia's abortion industry - including Planned Parenthood - through the Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) pilot program.
