The for-fee classes and free trainings listed here are held at SFC’s facilities. All proceeds from our for-fee offerings support our free programs and efforts to improve access to nutritious, affordable food for low-income residents and communities facing health disparities and food insecurity in and around Central Texas.

This 2-part series combines hands-on activities and classroom discussion to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to start and maintain an organic, sustainable food garden. Whether you hope to garden in a yard, on a balcony, or at a community garden, this class series will give you a strong foundation for growing your own food.

Feb 26, 6:00-8:00pm & Feb 27, 6:00-8:00pm. This 2-part training is for teachers, parents, and community members interested in starting (or reviving) and sustaining a school or a community garden. Teachers may register for free (see event details for instructions).

Tara Chapman of Two Hives Honey will lead an informative class on the science of bees and beekeeping basics. In this class, SFC Farmers' Market vendor Boulanger Fermentations will show you how to make homemade fermented sauerkraut. You will learn the stages of fermentation, troubleshooting common problems, and how to store your sauerkraut when it is ready.
