All proceeds from our for-fee offerings support our free programs and efforts to improve access to nutritious, affordable food for low-income residents and communities facing health disparities and food insecurity in and around Central Texas.

April 24, 6:00-8:00pm & April 25, 6:00-8:00pm. At this interactive 2-part training, we will focus on strategies for successful collaboration. We'll learn how to draw the best from diverse personalities and leadership styles to build strong teams, set effective goals, and techniques for preventing and resolving conflict.
11:00am-1:00pm. Eating for health and wellness can be a little daunting, especially during the week. In this class, guest teacher Sydney Hardwick will talk about spring vegetables and show you how to use them to make quick, healthy weeknight meals. This is a hands-on class, so please come ready to cook, learn, eat -- and even dance a little while you cook! You are welcome to bring your own wine or beverage of choice - BYOB.
9:30am-11:30am. How do I help my plants survive the summer? Why are my tomatoes not fruiting? Novice or advanced, gardening is a life-long learning experience. Drop by our SFC Teaching Garden and have all your gardening questions answered by our experienced gardeners! This will be a casual drop-in session with one-on-one time available to talk to a gardener. Complimentary coffee available!
1:00-3:30pm. A beekeeping class-- just for kids! In this class, kids (recommended ages 7-16) will learn about the important role honey bees play in our food system and how they go about making what we all love so much-honey!
May 15, 6:00-8:00pm & May 16, 6:00-8:00pm. In this interactive 2-part training, we will cover leadership skills for: organizing a strong garden team, planning the garden, accessing land and water, garden management, finding resources, school-specific strategies and guidelines, and more.
6:30-8:30pm. Learn how to slice, dice, chop and chiffonade like a pro. You'll go home with a ready-to-use vegetable bounty, and recipes that use those veggies!
11:00am-1:00pm. Join SFC Farmers' Market vendor Bill Nadalini, from WunderPilz, and learn the art and craft of fermenting and flavoring kombucha. In this class, you will learn how to make safe, healthy, and delicious kombucha that is full of beneficial acids and probiotics. Bill will demonstrate the process from start to finish and answer your kombucha questions! You will leave class with a basic understanding of all stages of kombucha fermentation, a container of kombucha starter culture and how to make it at home!
4:00pm - 7:00pm. Join professional butcher and co-founder of the Central Texas Meat Collective, Julia Poplawsky, in SFC's The Happy Kitchen and learn how to break down a whole hog, transforming it into roasts, chops, ribs, pork belly and more.

11:00am-1:30pm. Dumplings can be filled with almost anything, and this class will focus on traditional flavors with a local, seasonal twist. Class participants will learn step-by-step how to make dumplings, and leave feeling inspired to make them at home. Tye will demonstrate both meat-based and vegetarian fillings, and you will make dumpling dough to take home with you. She will also show you three basic ways dumplings can be cooked: fried, steamed and boiled - and how to complete the presentation with a dipping sauce and a side dish!
6:30-8:00pm. Come celebrate National Ice Cream Month with the highly delectable and popular South Austin gelateria, Dolce Neve, in SFC's The Happy Kitchen. Learn the secrets of making traditional Italian gelato using fresh, local ingredients from Austin-area dairies and SFC Farmers' markets.

6.30pm-8.30pm. Whether you like it hot or mild, spicy or sweet, salsa always brings something special to the table! SFC Guest Chef Raymundo Rios returns to The Happy Kitchen, this time to teach you how to make authentic Mexican salsas that feature the best of summer's fruits and vegetables.
