The for-fee classes and free trainings listed here are held at SFC’s facilities. All proceeds from our for-fee offerings support our free programs and efforts to improve access to nutritious, affordable food for low-income residents and communities facing health disparities and food insecurity in and around Central Texas.

6:30-8:30 pm. In this class, you will learn the what, how and why of using spices and spice blends. Hema Reddy, from Sneaky Apron, will show you simple ways to add health-promoting spices to your food, like seasoning a salad with toasted cumin or adding ground cassia cinnamon to your smoothie.

Join Akshaya, from My Ayurvedic Kitchen, as she opens up her spice box and teaches you about the healing potential of spices and herbs like - ginger, cumin, turmeric, black pepper, tulsi, and more - and shows you how to use them in Indian-inspired dishes. 3:00-5:00pm. Come learn about the sweetest part of beekeeping--harvesting honey and beeswax! In this class you will learn how bees make honey and beeswax and then watch demonstrations on how beekeepers extract both from the bee hive. Learn about how flowers influence the taste and consistency of honey and taste several local single-origin honeys. We will also demonstrate how to render beeswax and leave you with lots of ideas of how to make your own lip balms, salves, and candles.

We'll learn strategies for making decisions as a group, as well as how to draw the best from diverse personalities and leadership styles to build strong teams.

In this class, you will learn how to make safe, healthy, and delicious kombucha that is full of beneficial acids and probiotics. Bill will demonstrate the process from start to finish and answer your kombucha questions! You will leave class with a basic understanding of all stages of kombucha fermentation, a container of kombucha starter culture and how to make it at home!
