Did you know 1 in 7 people in our community are experiencing food insecurity.
That means 270,000 individuals do not know where they will get their next meal.
To help fight this epidemic, Mercy Neighborhood Ministries has created a team and is participating in the Freestore Foodbank's 2021 Virtual Hunger Walk on May 31, 2021.
Anyone who joins Team MNM will have their donation credited toward Mercy Neighborhood Ministries’ Freestore Foodbank account.
MNM will be able to use this credit to purchase items to fill the shelves of our community food pantry.
Each month MNM's community food pantry serves approximately 150 vulnerable seniors people living in Walnut Hills, Evanston, and surrounding neighborhoods who have very low incomes and chronic health conditions.
Many rely on MNM's food pantry as their primary source for fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and other proteins, assorted shelf stable canned food items, as well as personal care and cleaning products.
Since the onset of COVID 19 in 2020, we have altered our service delivery to home delivery of food bags to ensure their health and safety our of senior clients. In addition we have increased the frequency of these deliveries to twice a month due to increased food insecurity during the pandemic.
