Becky's Hunger Walk Personal Page - Supporting Churches Active in Northside (CAIN)

Hi friends! As some of you may know, I have been involved at CAIN (Churches Active in Northside) since I moved back to Cincinnati in 2018. Last year I joined the board so I could continue to support their mission: Connecting our community to challenge poverty by feeding bodies and souls. CAIN has been feeding neighbors in the 45223 zip code for decades through their Rainbow Choice Food Pantry, and in the past year they have expanded their services to folks all over the region. Fresh produce and other healthy foods are hard to find and even harder to afford for so many of us, which is why CAIN’s work is so important. If you’ve ever struggled with choosing between paying your bills or buying healthy, nourishing food for yourself or your family, you know how much we need them in our community.

This year I also got together with some new friends in Northside to form Northside Block by Block, an intentional group of neighbors and workers who fight for, advocate for, and empower one another to create an equitable, just, and sustainable neighborhood. We are cultivating a neighborhood where everyone feels safe, belongs, contributes to decision making, shares community and greenspace, and can afford to work, live, and play here to be in community with one another. We do this by working towards equitable development, connecting with neighbors to build community, reclaiming the narrative around our neighborhood, and working in solidarity with similar community groups striving to make lives better. As part of that effort to build solidarity, we have formed a team through the Freestore Foodbank's annual Hunger Walk to support our neighbors at CAIN.

If you have the ability to contribute any amount to support CAIN, please do! I especially want to call on folks like myself who might be discouraged because they can’t afford to give much. If you can share $5, I would truly appreciate it!

If you do decide to contribute, please do so by clicking the red DONATE box to the right. From there you can select an amount. Please select Churches Active in Northside - CAIN from the drop down Agency List.
