Virtual Hunger Walk - Freestore Foodbank
Did you know 1 in 7 people in our community are food insecure? That means 270,000 individuals do not know where their next meal is coming from.
As past President and current Treasurer at CAIN - Churches Active in Northside, I have seen firsthand the impact of hunger in the Northside and surrounding communities. Many of the individuals and families served by CAIN are even harder hit this year with the COVID-19 virus keeping them in their homes and unable to visit the CAIN's pantry.
Several food pantries in the vicinity of Northside have already closed, but not CAIN. Hunger doesn't take a shelter-in-place holiday! CAIN is providing bags of groceries and personal care items to our neighbors in need. We are working closely with other neighborhood services to deliver bags to seniors, shut-ins and home-bound families during this very difficult time.
Once again this year I am taking a stand against hunger in the Northside community. On Memorial Day, I will be participating in the Virtual Hunger Walk and 5K Run to benefit CAIN and our neighbors impacted by the COVID-19 virus.
Please join me in being a FIRST UCC CAIN champion, and help us "FEED BODIES AND SOULS" by joining my team or supporting our efforts with a tax-deductible donation. For more information about CAIN, to donate, or to learn about volunteer and board member opportunties, please visit cainministry.org.
At CAIN, our mission is Connecting our community to challenge poverty by feeding bodies and souls.
Our vision is Guided by faith, we shape the future by inspiring hope and satisfying basic hungers.
Our values statement is We recognize our social and moral responsibility to help people impacted by poverty.
Please help us help our neighbors in need. Thank you!
