This safety card was developed specifically for American Indian/Alaska Native communities. The card details the dynamics of domestic violence, safety tips and the number of the National Hotline on Domestic Violence. Each safety card folds into the size of a business card (3.5” x 2”) and can be easily concealed. This card folds similar to a mini tri-fold brochure. Blank space is included on the backside of the card so facilities can stamp, sticker, or write-in the name/number of their local domestic violence program. Display these safety cards in a health care exam room, restroom, or give them directly to patients.
Tip from the field: Is your health care facility reluctant to implement routine assessment for abuse? By simply counting and tracking the number of cards stocked and then taken in a week, or month, the numbers may be a persuasive motivator to demonstrate to clinicians and administrators that domestic violence impacts your patient population and that patients are interested in such information.
