Don't Let the EPA Allow More Chemicals on Your Veggies!

Vegetables are supposed to keep us healthy — not poison us with toxic herbicides like Roundup.

Unfortunately, the EPA is considering raising the tolerance levels for glyphosate, the main component of Monsanto's ubiquitous Roundup, on the vegetables we eat. That means that we'll be exposed to more of the herbicide when we eat veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes.

It also means that Roundup usage will likely increase dramatically, leading to more "superweeds" that are resistant to this already-potent weed killer. Rather than feeding into this vicious cycle by upping tolerance levels for Roundup, the EPA should regulate the herbicide in a more responsible way that protects human health.

Petition to Environmental Protection Agency

Stop Increasing Levels of Glyphosate on Our Food

I urge you not to increase tolerance levels of glyphosate, more commonly known as Roundup, on crops like carrots, sweet potatoes and sunflowers (Docket Number: EPA-HQ-OPP-2012-0132).

The EPA is failing to protect human health and the environment by neglecting to regulate the excessive use of herbicides; instead, it is just changing its own rules to allow the irresponsible and potentially dangerous applications to continue.

Tolerance levels are put in place to protect human health -- not the biotech industry.

I urge the EPA not to increase the maximum residue levels of glyphosate on foods I eat on a daily basis.

Sincerely,
