Thank you so much for considering additional ways to continue your commitment and support for Food & Water Watch. Planning a legacy gift or other ways of giving can help provide the resources that Food & Water Watch needs to perpetuate the values that you hold dear healthy food sustainably grown available to all, water as a common treasured resource that is safe and managed for the public good, and healthy oceans that can sustain abundant life forever. Although Food & Water Watch is only five years old, we’ve already accomplished so much. With your legacy gift, you help ensure that this work can continue to benefit your children and grandchildren, and the planet we love.

We recommend that people considering making a legacy gift, such as a bequest in a will, work with their financial advisor or contact us. We do understand that some people prefer to deal with these issues on their own, so below we provide some sample language that you can use for making a gift to Food & Water Watch in your will:
Unrestricted Gift: A gift that can be used where need is greatest
"I give to Food & Water Watch, a non-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Washington, DC, the sum of $_______* for its general purposes."
Residuary Bequest: Leaves any remainder after all other bequests have been paid
"All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to Food & Water Watch, a non-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Washington, DC, for its general purposes."
Contingency Gift: Takes effect only if a primary intention can’t be met.
"If (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, or shall die during the administration of my estate, or as a result of a common disaster, then I give to Food & Water Watch, a non-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Washington, DC, all of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, to be used for its benefit."
Gift for a Specific Purpose: A gift that is to be used for a specific purpose
"I give to Food & Water Watch, a non-profit 501(c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Washington, DC, the sum of $_______* to be used for [state purpose]. In the event the purposes of the restriction, in the opinion of the Board of Directors of Food & Water Watch, can no longer be served, the Board may devote any remaining assets exclusively for charitable purposes that: (a) are within the scope of the charitable purposes of charity (b) most nearly approximate the original purpose of the gift; and (c) benefits charity."
* Rather than leaving a sum certain, you can include language that refers to a percentage of your estate or a description of the property you wish to give.
