Welcome to My Personal Page
My family and I have signed up for the Dragon Boat Race. The proceeds of this fundraiser directly benefit me and the other patients connected to the Cancer Center. The money raised funds so many wonderful programs I can't name them all. However the one that has probably had the biggest impact on me is the Moving On program. Before cancer I was an avid runner and cyclist. I did yoga and took endless walks on the beach. Fitness was one of the things that defined me to myself. When cancer hit that part of me vanished. I couldn't do what I had done before. I lost all my strength and gained 30 pounds. I had a new me to get to know and I wasn't particularly fond of her. My confidence in my body was at an all time low. Things that used to be easy like a 3 mile run seemed impossible. I didn't know what I was still capable of and was afraid to find out. That is where the Cancer Center stepped in with their wonderful Moving On program. The Moving On team monitors me while working out making sure I am safe to complete my routine. They have helped to build my confidence and helped me realize that even while undergoing treatment I can still be an active participant in my heath and wellbeing. I can even imagine running a 5k again if we can keep the beast at bay. Therefore I am once again asking for a small donation to myself, Georgia or Joe for the race. I know I know I'm sorry but this one really does benefit me directly. I take part in something offered by the cancer center almost every day of the week. They have made a tremendous difference in my cancer journey and I desperately want to help them maintain and even grow the services they provide. Anna xx
.join me in supporting cancer patients in the Upstate by donating to the 13th annual Dragon Boat Upstate Festival. By making a donation in support of my Dragon Boat team, you help provide vital cancer research and survivorship programs to cancer patients in our community. So many of us have been touched by cancer in some way and this event provides a way for us to honor and remember loved ones that have faced or continue to face the disease. Make a gift to my Dragon Boat team and know that you are making a difference to cancer patients right here in the Upstate.
