Dear Friends,

This May I will be participating in a Dragon Boat race to raise money to support cancer patients in my local community. (If you're not familiar with Dragon Boat, it is a water sport with 20 paddlers, a drummer, and steerer, racing in a long narrow boat of traditional Chinese design.) Many of you know that I joined the Prisma Health Cancer Institute (Greenville, SC) as an oncology social worker in the Fall of 2021 after my Dad passed away from small cell lung cancer and other complications.

His passing in August 2021 affected me deeply and the grief has fueled my work supporting cancer patients on their journey and is a tribute and way to honor my Dad every day. The money raised through the Prisma Health Dragon Boat Upstate Festival helps to provide much-needed support for local cancer prevention and early detection, advanced cancer research and patient programs, as well as life-changing patient and survivor programs.

Most of us have unfortunately been touched by cancer in some way and the Dragon Boat Upstate Festival provides an opportunity for us to honor and remember loved ones that have faced or continue to face the disease. Will you make a gift and support my efforts to raise funds for our local cancer programs and services? My overall team goal is $25,000 and my personal goal is $1,000. I would be eternally grateful for any support.
