As some of you know, I was planning to thru hike the Long Trail from the MA border to the Canadian border this summer. Due to the historic flooding and damage done to VT towns and the trail, I have made the hard decision to delay that trip until next year. Instead of hiking on the trail, I plan to volunteer my time to help repair damage where it is needed most - whether on the trail or in one of the towns that was hardest hit.

Each year, the Green Mountain Club holds their biggest fundraiser, "Long Trail Day" and this year it will be held on October 7.  I am asking for donations to contribute to repairs on the Long Trail and long term maintenance and improvement projects to help preserve and maintain this special piece of VT.

The Green Mountain Club does really great work to support and maintain (the very busy!) hiking trails in Vermont, especially the Long Trail. This is my way of giving back to the trail that means so much to me.
