Tell President Obama to protect blue whales from dangerous ship strikes

Take ActionEndangered blue whales are being needlessly killed by commercial ship strikes off the coast of California every year.

Every season whales are being killed – rammed by the giant ships or brutally cut to ribbons by their huge propellers. With fewer than 10,000 blue whales remaining, it’s a shameful tragedy.

There’s a simple solution, but it requires opening up a route currently controlled by the US Navy to commercial shipping traffic. So far the Navy has refused. That’s why Greenpeace, the Great Whale Conservancy and a coalition of groups are asking President Obama, as Commander-in-Chief, to take the lead. But we can’t do it alone.

Tell President Obama to protect these whales and open up naval waters to commercial shipping.
