Protect Endangered Leatherback Turtles

Take ActionAlong the California coast, gillnets ensnare and kill whales, dolphins, sea lions, and turtles every year. These kinds of nets are meant to catch swordfish, but are also threatening the survival of endangered species like the leatherback turtle.

Right now, leatherbacks can take refuge from this danger in a small conservation area, but the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is planning to open much of the area to gillnets again.

This move would likely result in dozens of turtle deaths when the species is already on the brink of extinction.

Act now and tell the NMFS that you reject its abuse of the oceans, and want stronger protections for the leatherback turtle and other species near these dangerous fisheries.
