Exxon knew about climate change almost four decades ago and chose to spread climate denial over taking action.
Last November, New York’s Attorney General launched an investigation to determine whether Exxon misled the public and investors about the risks of climate change. The Attorney General of Massachusetts bravely joined him. Now, there are reports that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is also investigating Exxon for potential securities fraud. These investigations have one message: Exxon owes us answers.
Exxon called the New York investigation a “distraction,” and continues to fund climate denial and reap profits, while the planet continues to warm. We don't have another forty years to waste.
The Department of Justice must join forces with Attorneys General and the SEC to hold Exxon accountable for spreading climate denial and possibly committing financial fraud. Sign the petition today!
