Caring for Little Kidneys Campaign
Our little girl’s life was saved at McMaster Children’s Hospital. When Kayla was only nine years old, a severe E. coli infection led to life-threatening kidney failure. We cannot begin to describe the emotions we felt as parents when we were told that our daughter was critically ill.
Thanks to kidney dialysis provided by the Nephrology Clinic at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Kayla survived the ordeal and has regained the function of her kidneys. To read more about Kayla's story, click here.
We feel incredibly fortunate that, due to the talent and care of the health care specialists at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Kayla continues to grow and flourish today. However, we are keenly aware that many more children just like Kayla require the specialized care provided by the Nephrology team.
McMaster Children’s Hospital is the only place in the region that offers this life-saving dialysis to pediatric patients. Children who are acute may need treatment for only a few weeks, while chronic patients often need treatment until a kidney becomes available for transplant. With the Caring for Little Kidneys Campaign, we are committed to supporting the creation of a new Nephrology Clinic to help more children like Kayla in times of urgent need.
We need your help to raise the $650,000 to build and equip the new Nephrology Clinic. Every child is precious and every gift makes a difference. Your gift will help transform the lives of children for years to come. Please donate today!
