Dr. Keith Ablow – the transphobic FOX News commentator and psychiatrist – is once again using his media platform to spread dangerous lies about transgender Americans. In a recent opinion piece for FOX News, Ablow challenges the very idea that transgender people actually exist:
"I don't believe we have definitive data that any male or female soul has ever in the history of the world been born into the wrong anatomic gender."
This certainly isn't the first time Dr. Ablow has ranted against transgender Americans. Two years ago, he was apoplectic when Chaz Bono, the transgender son of Sonny and Cher, appeared on ‘Dancing with the Stars'. He's even compared the transition process – deemed by the American Medical Association to be medically necessary and effective – to "a woman who believes she will be happier without arms [who] has them removed."
Dr. Ablow is offering up his offensive views under the guise of a medical professional on a news platform – and that's the height of irresponsibility. Join HRC in telling Dr. Ablow that he must use his platform responsibly. Enough is enough.
Stop Spreading Dangerous Lies about Transgender Americans
Dr. Keith Ablow,
I was appalled to read your most recent piece for FOX News filled with so much anti-transgender misinformation and hate. You seem to find it perfectly acceptable to continue spewing dangerous lies about transgender Americans -- rather than treating them with the dignity and respect you've professed in the past to hold for them. Let me be clear: your words have consequences, and every time you lash out against transgender people you are demeaning and putting at risk honest, hardworking Americans. I'm talking about people's sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, moms and dads, best friends, co-workers and neighbors. You continue to demonstrate jarring unprofessionalism in your capacity as a psychiatrist and news commentator.
Once and for all, I urge you to use your platform as a medical professional and news commentator responsibly. Using it to instead spread your own opinions about an entire segment of the American population crosses the line.
