Help pass gender identity protections in New York

We need you to act right now and send a message to your New York State legislators urging them to pass the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) and include gender identity protections to the state's nondiscrimination laws. Discrimination on the basis of gender identity and expression in employment, housing, and public accommodations is still legal in New York State today. Transgender New Yorkers are frequently denied employment, evicted from their homes, or harassed in public because of their gender identity. The Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act would ensure that no one can be discriminated against because of who they are. Please send a message to your legislators urging them to support equality for all of New Yorkers!

Letter:

Dear

As a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign and equal rights for all New York's residents, I am writing to urge you to support the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act adding gender identity to the state's nondiscrimination laws.

All hardworking New Yorkers, including people who are transgender, should have the chance to earn a living and provide for themselves and their families. Recent polling indicated nearly 80% of New Yorkers agree that civil rights must include all of their friends and neighbors, including those who are transgender.

That's why you should vote to pass these bills quickly. It's common sense and the right thing to do.

Sincerely,
