Iona's work isn’t just about a person’s health or nutrition or safety. It’s just as much about their quality of life and well-being…it’s about truly fostering the connections and community that help them thrive.
That is even more true today. It is an unprecedented time. We are, together, navigating how to remain connected…while also protecting the most vulnerable.
At Iona, that looks like our incredible team of social workers making daily wellness checks to our older neighbors via phone calls. It means support groups and psychotherapy sessions are happening online or by phone. It means we’re working with partners to deliver more meals than ever before. Through all of this, we’re continuing to plan and implement new ways to adapt our services and support our clients through these uncertain times.
It also means that, more than ever, we need to lean on our community to keep Iona’s safety net services going.
We have to be frank. Our budget didn't plan for this kind of situation. We have lost significant revenue sources from suspending programs—a choice that we needed to make to protect our community and keep people safe. The financial consequences will be significant.
Every year, more than 3,500 older adults and families lean on Iona...on our professional and compassionate staff...on the critical safety net services we provide every day that save lives. With your donation, we protect the most vulnerable, enrich and build community, provide nutritious meals, and much more. We cannot keep this necessary work going without your support.
Thank you for thinking of your older neighbors during this public health crisis and ensuring they remain safe and secure into the future.
