Fundraising Tips
Set up Your Fundraising Page
After you register for the Paws 4 Pets Walk you will have access to your own fundraising page! This is a great place to let people know why you are fundraising for the animals, add a photo that is meaningful to you and share why you are participating.
Use The Power of Social Media
Create a Facebook fundraiser and share with all of your friends, family, and followers! Sharing your story, fundraising goal, and progress is a great way to get support. You can easily create your Facebook fundraiser through your Participant Center, just log in and click on the button, in the big blue box, that says "Connect Fundraiser to Facebook" on the right.
Send Emails
Your Participant Center makes it easy for you to let everyone in your address book know that you're participating in the Paws 4 Pets Walk and ask for their support! We even included an email template to get you started, feel free to edit the template with your own words and reason for fundraising.
You can also send messages through your own own email account, just remember to copy and paste the URL for your Participant Center into the body of your email!
Donate to Yourself
It might seem strange to donate to your own fundraising page but making a self-donation shows your dedication to the cause. Even a small contribution makes a difference, anything to show others you are committed to fundraising too!
Ask, Ask, Ask!
You've asked once but typically the second or third time is the charm! Life gets in the way sometimes and a friendly reminder can be key. Make sure to provide updates on your fundraising goal so that people can see how close you are. Your family and friends want to support you - so don’t give up!
Get Creative
- Raffle or Sell Goods
Do you have some serious skills? Put them to work and auction off your wares! Are you a baker? Whip up a dozen cupcakes to auction off to your friends. A painter? Offer a by-request pet portrait service. Do you sew? Create unique items to raffle off or sell. - Host a Yard Sale
Ask your family and friends to clean out their closets and garages and bring items to sell, the more the better. - Ask around the office
You may have generous coworkers, or even a workplace who would sponsor a Walk/Run team or match donations given by staff! You never know who could be ready to give and support your cause! (Of course, make sure to ask about any guidelines your company has for soliciting donations in the workplace first.)
Matching Gifts
Does your workplace have a matching gifts program? Check with your Human Resources department to find out, and you could double the money raise! Many workplaces offer this program, remember to let your friends and family know to see if their gift can be doubled too.
Show Your Appreciation
One of the most important parts is to thank everyone who helped you fundraise. It can be a handwritten note, simple text message, or email thanking them for their generosity and support. Just know that we couldn't save hundreds of lives without you. Thank You!
