Mrs. Cheryl Polfus Minor
Thomas R. Minor, 64, was a professor in the departments of psychology and psychiatry and behavioral sciences. He was born in Corning, NY, on May 16, 1952 and died March 27, 2017 in Burbank, CA, from bladder cancer.
Tom received his B.S. degree in psychology from Syracuse University in 1975 and his Ph.D. in psychobiology from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, in 1981. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, from 1980-82 and a National Institute of Mental Health postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado, Boulder, from 1982-84.
In 1984, he joined UCLA as an assistant professor of psychology. During his career, he explored the metabolic challenges resulting from behavior adversely impacted by stress. His research ranged from working with animal models to doing applied research involving military personnel undergoing combat stress.
Tom devoted his life to research, so it is only fitting that contributions made in his memory should be made to fund research on the disease that took him from us.
