Jewish Family Service’s Emergency Response Fund was launched in mid-March to respond to the urgent needs facing San Diego’s most vulnerable community members as a result of the COVID-19 Crisis.
These are unprecedented times as our community takes widespread action to limit the impact of the COVID-19 (coronavirus). School and senior center closures mean children, families and older adults, already struggling to make ends meet, are missing out on essential items like free breakfast and lunch and access to reliable childcare. And tens of thousands of people across our community – who have been laid off, furloughed, or are unable to work in order to care for their children or older parents – are finding themselves unable to pay the rent, put food on the table, or fill a prescription because of lost wages.
Together, we can be there for our neighbors and offer much needed relief and vital necessities.
Your gift will support JFS’s emergency service delivery, including the increased provision of home-delivered meals and free grocery and hygiene items, as well as direct financial assistance for the following items:
- Rent & Mortgage Assistance
- Medical Expenses
- Food Expenses
- Cleaning and Household Supplies
- Medicine/Prescription Expenses
- Childcare Expenses
If you are in need of services, please contact JFS Access at (858) 637-3210.
We are grateful to Dr. Andrew Viterbi, Arlene & Louis Navias, Ruth Schwartz & Isaac Engel, Epstein Family Foundation, and two anonymous donors for our previous matching challenges and our generous community of supporters for giving generously to meet the match.
