I'm bending over backwards for people with breast cancer!
Literally. Doing yoga on the steps of the art museum to raise money for Breast Cancer, even though I'm about as flexible as the turnpike at rush hour, but hey, not the point! The point is the cause. And Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a really good one.
When I first started getting mammograms 16 years ago (gulp), I remember thinking about how quickly I could get it done because I had so many things to get done. Getting that mammogram was a nuisance--an item on my list that needed to be checked off. It was an obligation that was keeping me from an hour of writing at my favorite coffee shop or working at [insert job] or a really good hour of Dr. Phil (hey, we all have our guilty pleasures).
Nowadays, however, the talk track in my head is much different. Instead of "Let's get this over with so I can get a latte..." it's "I pray that everything is okay and my mammogram comes back with a clean bill of health."
No, I haven't had breast cancer. I'm one of the lucky ones...and I hope and pray it stays that way. Still, I know so many people who haven't been so lucky. Friends, family members, colleagues, and peers...it sucks!
The good news is that most have gone on to get the treatment they needed and back to their own versions of a favorite coffee shop and writing. That's because there are amazing groups like this one raising funds and doing the work to make sure breast cancer is caught in time to save a life.
Please support me and Living Beyond Breast Cancer as the money I raise will help LBBC continue to connect people with trusted breast cancer information and a community of support. Their vision is a world where no one impacted by breast cancer feels uninformed or alone.
Since its launch in Philadelphia in 2002, Reach & Raise has attracted more than $3 million in individual support! In 2017 alone, they served more than 530,000 people through their comprehensive website, informative webinars and publications and in-person conferences. With your help, they can increase their reach and help even more people impacted by this disease.
The infographic below shows LBBC's commitment to its mission and to being responsible stewards of your charitable contributions. Every year since 2004, they have received the highest rating from Charity Navigator (4 stars). I am proud to be supporting them and I hope you will join me by registering or donating today!
Thanks everyone!!! xoxo
