In 2018, at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Over the course of the 10 months that followed, I received 8 infusions of chemotherapy, a lumpectomy, a complete axillary lymph node dissection, and 30 rounds of radiation.
I am grateful to now be almost two years out from active treatment, and cancer free. I still receive hormone therapy to reduce my risk of recurrence, see a physical therapist to manage lymphedema (swelling) in my arm caused by the surgery, and regular MRIs and mammograms to monitor any changes in my breasts.

I received so much support from my family and friends during treatment, but am especially grateful for the community I found with Living Beyond Breast Cancer. I am currently serving as a volunteer with their Young Advocate program, learning and implementing ways I can use my skills and experience to support others through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
