The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), our nation’s primary chemical safety law, is broken, failing to regulate what goes into our everyday products like household cleaners, baby products, even furniture. These products are often filled with toxic chemicals, such as flame retardants, phthalates, and BPA, which are increasingly linked to rising instances of childhood cancers, infertility, obesity, asthma, neurological diseases, and learning disabilities.

We need Congress to reform this law to protect our families from dangerous chemicals, but the Chemicals in Commerce Act (CICA) being proposed in the House of Representatives protects the profits of the chemical industry, not the health of our children. The bill rolls back what little authority the EPA currently has to regulate chemicals, fails to protect those most vulnerable, including pregnant women and children, ignores the recommendations of the medical and scientific communities, and prohibits states from taking action to protect their citizens. We need meaningful chemical policy reform that moves us forward in the fight to protect our health and the environment, but the CICA would result in more dangerous chemicals in our products, not less.

Use the form below to send your Representatives a message urging them to oppose the Chemicals in Commerce Act (CICA).

Oppose the Chemicals in Commerce Act!

Our nation's chemical law is badly broken, exposing American families to toxic chemicals in many of the products we use every day. The Chemicals in Commerce Act (CICA), however, would do nothing to fix this broken policy- it dangerously places protection of the chemical industry's profits above the protection of our families' health.

It is not difficult to see that the CICA is not meaningful chemical policy reform and simply takes us backwards in the fight against toxic chemicals.

We call on Congress to put protecting public health above protecting the profits of the chemical industry. Oppose the Chemicals in Commerce Act today!
