For years, the oil and gas industry have been taking advantage of loopholes and exemptions in our major environmental laws. Scientific studies have found that oil and gas development like fracking is linked to hazardous air pollution, contaminated drinking water supplies, and toxic byproducts that can lead to cancer, respiratory diseases, birth defects, neurological damage, and other serious illnesses. Not to mention stringing us along on our continual dependence on dirty fossil fuels, which is endangering our climate.
It’s time the fracking industry plays by all the rules. A new set of bills in Congress, called the “Frack Pack,” will make fracking much safer by requiring water testing, disclosure of the chemicals used, and closing loopholes in our major environmental laws to make the industry more transparent and to protect our communities and the environment.
Help our friends in Congress gain more cosponsors on these important bills that will safeguard our communities from fracking before they introduce them on March 18th! Tell your representatives today to cosponsor the “Frack Pack.”
