Aspire Begins A Busy Spring Semester of Classes
Estimated reading time: 1 minute, 45 seconds.

The Spring semester of classes is back in action after a busy class registration month where Aspire continued to grow in our in-person locations and with students.

Our East Dallas classes housed at Owenwood Farm and Neighbor Space grew, including the addition of ESL Basic I and II courses and an extra classroom of students. Gabriela Davila, Aspire’s Operations Director, said, "It's refreshing to see so many students in person and see their enthusiasm in class. They are very committed to classes, and every day they show up with a smile".

Owenwood also holds in-person classes for the Early Childhood Education program where 2 to 5-year-olds are learning all the basics from colors to numbers. They are also having fun learning to embrace their creative side through fun puzzles and craft-making designed to begin the skill of understanding letters and reading. "Our goal is to prepare the students to be successful when they enter their pre-K and kindergarten classes while at the same time helping their parents learn to be their child’s first teacher," said Isania Solis, the Early Childhood Education Director.

In West Dallas, Aspire is holding Adult ESL classes for the first time at our new location at Readers2Leaders. In conjunction with our partner Brother Bill’s Helping Hand, this location allows us to grow our ESL classes in a beautiful space with all the tools for focused learning. In addition, the site at the Storehouse of Colin County has continued to grow to nearly 150 students.

In February, the Sequential English Education (SEE) classes at Frazier House in South Dallas celebrated two graduation ceremonies for level 1 and 2 adult learners. The SEE curriculum is especially effective for Aspire's population and is accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council. The program was developed in conjunction with the Shelton School a decade ago.

We are very thankful for our partners, skilled staff, dedicated volunteer teachers, and all the supporters of Aspire's mission. Together we are motivated by our students' desire to learn because we know that confident learners can overcome obstacles and reach new heights for themselves, their families, and their communities.
