The Adam S. Kaplan Memorial Scholarship
Adam became the first youth member on the LIGALY Board of Directors in 1994 and went on to educate thousands of young people through speaking at more than 200 schools and appearing on numerous television shows to advocate for the rights and safety of GLBT youth. He also oversaw the opening of LIGALY’s first community center in 1995. Adam left an inspiring memory of activism, community spirit, and determination.
Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth, Inc. (LIGALY) provided the 1st Annual Adam S. Kaplan Memorial Scholarship in the spring of 2009. By making a donation to the Adam S. Kaplan Memorial Scholarship Fund, you are ensuring that Adam’s bright spirit and curious mind live on by giving other promising, young GLBT leaders on Long Island an opportunity to receive a quality college education.
