I'll never forget the fear and sadness I felt in 1993, knowing that patients like me lived an average of 2 years. I enrolled in the very earliest clinical trial evaluating the first monoclonal therapy used to treat cancer. After that and more courses of treatment, here I am: 29 years later, 15 years since my last cancer treatment, enjoying my life as a writer and as "Grammy" to six little ones.
