Kenzan - Black Fan
Kenzan - Black Fan

Fan-shape ikebana black kenzan will hold a variety of flowers in place as you create your floral displays and be barely visible in a dark vase interior.  Made in Japan.

Kenzans are used in Ikebana (Japanese style of flower arranging). They are heavy metal disks (or bases) with many small sharp protruding pins (or points). Known by many different names (frogs, pin frog, flower frog, flower spikes, needle holder), the kenzan (the Japanese word) is a must for flower arranging enthusiasts. They are used to hold flower stems in place and are especially useful for flower arranging in shallow containers. They also work well in deeper containers. Kenzans may be secured to the bottom of the floral container with floral clay.

Stems of flowers are pushed onto the short spikes enabling the flowers to stand on their own. Flowering branches and curly willow may also be used. If you don’t have enough flowers to cover the kenzan, try using pebbles, moss, or pieces of wood or pine cones.

Each kenzan comes in its own protective box.
