Help Me Help Others
I was initially introduced to Movable Feast while working on a logo project at MICA for Ride for the Feast. As a young gay woman coming out in Baltimore City in the early 2000s, it was reassuring to know there were folks out there working hard to support a portion of (very sick) gay culture in my new city.
Over the years, Movable Feast has expanded their services to support many home bound folks suffering from threatening illnesses including cancer. Last year, Moveable Feast delivered 656,158 life-saving meals to 4,365 Marylanders at no cost to them.
The last few years have been filled with cancer effecting my grandmother, dad and Amanda’s dad. Our best friend Matt lost his mom to cancer this summer. Amanda and I were grateful to be able to support Matt, his mom and our family members through tough transitions. Fortunately, our family is able to provide the care and support needed during challenging health moments. Moveable Feast home cooked meal delivery service provides food for those who don’t have the support they need.
Ride for the Feast is a charity bike ride, which takes place over 2 days, totaling 140-miles in Maryland from Ocean City to Baltimore City. This year's event is May 2-3, 2020.
The Ride raises money for Moveable Feast, the only Maryland nonprofit that delivers healthy meals to people living with HIV, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. This ride is also symbolic - the fundraising minimum of $1,500 equals the food costs for feeding one client for an entire year. 140 miles represents the furthest distance Moveable Feast travels to deliver to a client.
This year, I’m riding for the feast to help folks that need extra love and support. 100% of the proceeds raised here go directly to food preparation and delivery of home cooked meals for those struggling with illness. Your support will aid thousands of our neighbors in 15 counties here in Maryland.
