As many of you know, the students of LCHS will be traveling once again this December to Hogar Immanuel, an orphanage for children with disabilities. The home is run by Mustard Seed Communities and is located in the Puerto Plata area of the Dominican Republic. This is our SEVENTH trip! I am so excited to see that our students have remained committed to opening their minds and hearts to work alongside the amazing staff and community members.
Last year we ran a successful fundraising campaign to raise enough money to cover the cost of food for one month for the children of Hogar Immanuel. We are excited to renew our commitment to this cause once again! Our goal for our upcoming trip is to raise $5,000… enough to cover the cost of food for all forty-eight kids. In doing this we are hoping to accomplish two things:
First and foremost, we hope to alleviate some of the financial burden at Hogar Immanuel.
Second, we hope to stimulate the local economy of the Cangrejo neighborhood. Shopping local small businesses will directly benefit the members of this community, many of whom are struggling to overcome poverty.
How can you help?
We are currently seeking donations to help us reach our goal. In the past I know that many of you have very generously donated in support of our trip, and for that we thank you! If you are able to help out again, that would be greatly appreciated. Please do not feel obligated in any way, and know that no donation is too small.
If you wish to make a donation, please visit our team page and click ¨Donate Now¨.
Thank you so much!
