Meet the Residents of Kingston, Jamaica

Sophie's Place

Raheem

Raheem is a resident of Sophie's Place in Jamaica. He came to Mustard Seed when he was only 1 year old and desperately in need of care. When he arrived, Raheem was severely underweight and unable to crawl or even sit up.

Since coming to Mustard Seed, Raheem has received extensive therapy and support from our caregivers. Now, he can sit up on his own to engage people and the world around him. That's a huge milestone, but Raheem still can't crawl or speak. He has a long way to go and our community will be there to help him.

My Father's House

Gracie

Since the day she came to MSC Jamaica, Gracie has captured the hearts of staff and volunteers alike. Gracie has Down syndrome and was abandoned by her mother as a baby. Now 4 years old, Gracie just finished her first year of preschool at MSC’s Little Angel’s Learning Center. Like any other child, she loves to color and play with her classmates. Gracie is responding so well to early education and speech therapy that she will be ready to enter a mainstream elementary school with her peers.

Vernard

At the age of 2, Vernard was brought to Mustard Seed Communities when his parents abandoned him. Immediately he was welcomed at My Father's House in Kingston, Jamaica.

Joevan

Joevan came to Mustard Seed Communities when he was three years old. He has spina bifida and at first was embarrassed to show his face.

Matthew XV

Keemo

Keemo always has a bright, smiling face. With a childhood of surgeries that led to him losing his ability to walk, understandably he wasn't always so positive. Now, he is an inspirational speaker and shares his story with the hope that his joyful spirit will help others.
