Team Callum #SuperCal

I have this cool (or should I say SUPER cool?) little friend named Cal. He and I are about to become even better friends, because he was listed for a liver transplant and it turns out - I'm his match! At the end of September, sweet baby Cal and I will both have surgery and he will receive a portion of my liver.

I have repeatedly been asked “why have you volunteered to do this?” Every time, my answer is the same: we are all in this together. I believe the world is good; I believe people care about and for each other; and I believe if one of my kids needed something, someone in my network would step forward and offer all they could.

I have also repeatedly been asked “what do you need? What can I do?” To that, my answer is “love, support, and your time.”

I have found a new response to both of these questions – I ask you to join me in both the belief that we are in this together and the action of showing it. I am asking for donations towards “Team Callum”. My goal is to raise enough to fund a new cottage for some of the children of Mustard Seed Communities in Jamaica. MSC cares for abandoned children and adults with disabilities, HIV, and complex medical diagnoses in the Carribbean, Africa, and Central America. This cottage in Jamaica would be named after SuperCal as a lasting testament to this journey – quite literally housing more children in the belief that we are all in this together.

There are three new ways for you to support me in this:

1.       Donate!

 2.       Join Team Callum as a “virtual volunteer” with the password “donatelife” to create your own fundraising page to support these programs in Jamaica. BONUS – this earns your my everlasting gratitude, my effusive praise, lots of smiles, and maybe even hugs. (TIP- edit the default language before sharing your fundraising page!)

3.       Let me know if you would be interested in volunteering at the home in Jamaica sometime next year to see the cottage and participate in a week of serving kids with complex medical needs. Love all, serve all.
