COVID-19 threatens to overwhelm even the most advanced health systems. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is responding by delivering essential medical care where it is needed most. Help us save lives. Donate to MSF’s COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
As an international humanitarian emergency medical organization, MSF already works in more than 70 countries where conflict, poverty and neglect prevent people from accessing the health services they urgently need.
Now, as COVID-19 continues its rapid global spread, we are responding to a whole new challenge: scaling up our emergency medical activities and supporting fragile health systems impacted by this pandemic – even as we continue providing care for the tens of thousands of people who already depend on us for essential health services every day.
“COVID-19 is a global health emergency and responding to emergencies is in our DNA. Taking care of those in need, the sick and vulnerable – that’s what MSF does best,” says MSF’s International President, Dr. Christos Christou. “With your support, we’re getting down to work.”
Right now, MSF is opening new medical activities in some of the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 – including, for the first time, places with highly developed medical systems, such as Italy, Greece and Belgium. In more than 70 other countries, we are responding to rapidly changing medical needs and delivering much-needed assistance: providing case management, carrying out infection control, building health structures to treat COVID-19 patients and more.
As an international emergency medical organization, MSF has been the primary responder to deadly disease outbreaks and global health crises throughout our nearly five decades of history, and we are drawing upon that experience to help deliver care, protect medical staff and stop the spread of COVID-19 in nearly every part of the world in which we work.
MSF has launched the COVID-19 Crisis Fund to raise urgently needed donations for our emergency response to the pandemic. Funds raised will support MSF’s COVID-19 response worldwide, including program costs related to COVID-19 and its consequences.
You can help. This unprecedented global crisis requires a global response. Help us deliver urgently needed medical assistance right now to some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
