Ardra Shephard is the influential Canadian writer, speaker, and advocate behind the award-winning blog Tripping On Air. Ardra is on a mission to see disability positively reflected as part of a diverse society, to change minds about what it means to live with a serious illness, and to empower those with chronic illness to stake their place in the world.
Shephard recently partnered with television, film and production company Shaftesbury Films to develop a scripted series whose main character has MS. The show promises to confront society’s narrow definition of what it means to be fabulous, with Ardra’s trademark style, humour, and sensibility.
Shephard regularly writes for international publications and was recently featured on the cover of the National MS Society’s Momentum magazine (Winter 2020) and in FASHION (November 2020), Canada’s number one beauty and fashion magazine. Shephard is a script consultant for AMI’s television show about dating and disability There’s Something You Should Know. In 2019 she was the keynote speaker at the MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands gala fundraiser, and in 2020 she delivered the keynote speech for the NMSS’s Washington D.C. On The Move event. Ardra is a leader in the chronic illness community where Yahoo Lifestyle reported that “@ms_trippingonair is the number one chronic illness account to follow on Instagram.”
