Here we are. 2020. A year that we will never forget! In the midst of a global viral pandemic, we have quickly experienced unprecedented change that has resulted in a new way of being. The impact of this change has been great. Many people lost their jobs as businesses closed, while many more were forced to work from home in isolation. As a pharmacist and health care worker, I have continued to work, and be there for the people who need me most. Now I am asking you to do the same.
The MS Bike tour is scheduled to take place July 25th and 26th, but like so many other events, it is going to look very different this summer. We are still not in a place where large groups of people can come together safely, so MS Bike is going virtual! That means you can still support this important cause, participants can still ride, we just won't be doing it together. I am sad that I will not be riding with my amazing team this year, but happy to be in good health and still be able to support such an important cause with the rest of the Cycle-delics in spirit. The volunteer experience (last year) was one I will never forget, but the feeling of being out on my bike and riding cannot be down played!
This will be my seventh year participating with the MS Bike tour, and if one good thing has come from this - I will not have to bike up the Acadia Hill this year! LOL
Atlantic Canada has the highest rate of MS in the Country, and Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world. We all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease.
That is why I am also counting on YOUR support this year.
Why I'm gearing up
Every day 3 more Canadians are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable illness that affects vision, balance, memory and mobility. We don't know what causes MS and there is no cure.
Your support means families who are impacted by this often devastating disease do not have to face MS alone.
Your dollars at work
When you pledge me in the MS Bike, your funds are invested into groundbreaking MS research and services for the 100,000 Canadians living with MS.
Services and programs your fundraising supports:
* Financial assistance for special equipment and home care
* Supportive counselling for all those affected by MS
* Self-help groups and recreational programs for people with MS
* Government advocacy for people living with MS
Thank you in advance for your pledge to create a more hopeful future for those affected by MS.
