Welcome to Paul's Fundraising Page!
Over the past couple of years I have come to know, and then fall in love with Patrycia Rzechowka. She was diagnosed with MS at the young age of 23. Despite the diagnosis, she has not used it as an excuse to give up. Instead she has carried herself with pride and stubbornness, unwilling to roll over and let MS win. She has continued to live her life to the fullest, not taking a single moment for granted. She has also made sure to do her utmost to be an advocate for education, a mentor, and a shoulder to lean on for so many new patients diagnosed.
Her lessons have not been lost on me. Because of her I have learned to find the beauty in life, I have learned to not take for granted how lucky we are to be alive, I have learned to embrace the days we have together. (Don't judge, sometimes I'm a slow learner)
Here's the thing though. I, too, am stubborn. I, too, don't like to lose. That's why I am going to fight. I am going to fight with all I have got, to end Multiple Sclerosis. I've got too much to lose to just lay down and let this disease win. Patrycia is one of 90000 Canadians living with MS. While I am fighting for her, I am also fighting so that someday, hopefully in our lifetime, we can find a cure. In recent years researchers have taken great strides in fighting medications that can help, and even slow the damage this disease can do. But that's not enough. We can't stop until we reach the day where no man or woman has to hear the words "You have MS".
So, on Saturday, July 10th we will be riding in the MS Society of Canada- AB & NWT Division Leduc to Camrose virtual ride. Again this year, we will be riding there and back, in one day, over 170KM. My goal is to raise $15000.00 this year. If, like me, Patrycia has come into your life, and changed it for the better, I would ask that you consider helping. There are many ways you can help.
