Canadians have one of the highest rates of MS in the world, and on average, 11 Canadians are diagnosed with this unpredictable illness every day. We don’t know what causes MS, and we don’t have a cure. Yet.
I am walking in the MS Walk for my husband Gary that was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis within the past month. I walk 4 or 5 km every day so I feel if Gary can deal with his symptoms every day I can commit to walking double that 5k to 10k for just one day for a great cause. Ironically, my first job within the Halifax area was as an accountant for the MS society Atlantic division and I met many people with MS. After meeting the MS specialist here in Halifax recently and learning about what they can offer to MS patients for treatments I am astonished by the progress they have made in the past 30 years in terms of research and development. I want to support the world’s leading researchers discover the cause, treatments and cure for MS. Leading-edge research and support programs have improved the quality of life for people affected by MS.
When you make a donation to my fundraising, you are helping continue this incredible work.
Thank you for supporting our MS Walk community. We wouldn’t be where we are today without your support.
