Welcome to Janette's MS Walk Fundraising Page!
Where she and her team, Shake it Off, can start by saying FU MS :)
Why I'm lacing up
Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable illness that affects vision, balance, memory, mobility and then some! With an average of 11 Canadians being diagnosed with MS every day (which is mind boggling!), Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world. Which is NOT what we want to be #1 for! In July of 2014, I was one of them. Being diagnosed with a disease the same year I turned 30 was unexpected and quite frankly, a shite show. Having an illness that has the ability to so greatly affect my day to day living was a big pill to swallow. And for those of you who know me well, I hate swallowing pills!
MS is sometimes called an invisible disease, as MS symptoms may not be visible to those around you, or visible at all. But the body is still fighting an active disease that can leave unrepairable damage to the brain and spine. We don’t know what causes MS and there is no cure, but I’m walking in my sixth MS Walk to help make a difference. Your support means that families in our community who are impacted by this often devastating disease do not have to face MS alone.
Your dollars at work
When you pledge me in the MS Walk, your funds are invested into groundbreaking MS research and services for the 100,000 Canadians living with MS.
Services and programs your fundraising supports:
- Financial assistance for special equipment and home care

MS doesn't define Me. It's just a curve ball. I'll still hit it but I may have to run my bases a little slower.
