My doctor had sent me for MRI imaging. I was thinking to myself that maybe this serious - who gets an MRI booked for 2 days later? When the scans came in I was sent the next day for more MRI imaging, and then I heard the words, “Your MRI is showing lesions in your spine and it is possible that you have MS”. Being a month out from my wedding - the emotions in my head couldn't put words together to respond, they only formed tears.
The doctor sent me to MS clinic in Toronto where I got new scans. The neurologist assured me of the advances of science and how far the understanding of MS has come over the years.
At this point in time I am fortunate that the lesions in my spine and the white matter in my brain are stable, and my diagnosis is CIS - Clinical Isolated Syndrome.
Many Canadians aren't as fortunate, and this is why we walk. For all the Canadians living with MS!
