I’m raising money in support of Myeloma Canada by participating in the Multiple Myeloma March.
This year will be my 5th year participating in the Multiple Myeloma March in Montreal with my family, Team Broanis (the Brennan-Oana-Papachronis clan). Each year, we walk together in memory of my dad, Richard Oana, who gained his angel wings in 2015 after an 8 year battle with multiple myeloma. We walk as a family each year not only to keep his memory alive, but to help raise funds to help move the needle toward a cure for people living with myelome today, and for those who will be diagnosed in the future.
This year's campaign is a little different than past years. In light of the current COVID-19 climate and preventative measures of physical distancing, Myeloma Canada has managed to make limoncello out of lemons by expanding and adapting the Multiple Myeloma March for 2020 and going foward. A new personalized Distance Challenge has been added as a new component to the campaign, because why stop at 5km? This is a great opportunity to challenge ourselves over the spring and summer leading up to the March this fall (whether we walk physically together or not).
As of April 1st, my husband Mike and I pledge to walk 3km per day, for 173 days. This leads up to September 20th, the scheduled date of the Montreal Multiple Myeloma March. Should I complete this challenge, I will walk a total of 519km! This is the distance between Montreal and Toronto!
Help support my challenge! By making a donation to me, you are helping to raise funds for research and access to innovative medications that will increase life expectancy, and move the needle toward a cure for patients impacted by myeloma.
Please make a donation today and help me to reach my fundraising goal!
I'm at 143 km of 519 km.
