I’m raising money in support of Myeloma Canada by entering a team and participating in the Multiple Myeloma March.
In November 2016 I was experiencing extreme pain in my torso, forcing me to stop running. After many tests and xrays it revealed that I had 6 vertabrae fractures and that my sternum and all rib bones were riddled with lytic lesions (like advanced osteoporosis), further a bone biopsy confirmed the diagnoses of Multiple Myeloma (MM) in January 2017. In February 2017 I started my 5 months of chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant, a journey I would not wish upon anybody. At this point in time I am in remission, as Multiple Myeloma cannot be cured.
During the course of 2017, I came to know many other people with MM and experienced the sorrow of losing 3 of those people, one of them a father with young children that never even survived one year after his diagnosis. This is a very complex and insidious cancer to diagnose and treat. By joining me in the March and/or making a donation to my team, you are helping tosupport and fund clinical research and to support advocacy for accelerated access to game changing therapies for Canadian myeloma patients. Over 90% of donations go toward the Myeloma Canada Research Network, less than 10% to administration making extremely effective use of our donation dollars.
Please join me on September 9, 2108 for the walk and if you are able, make a donation to the Nuts and Bolts team today and help me to reach my fundraising goal! Thank you.
Cheers, Bob Trudeau
