My family will be participating in the 1st annual Newmarket Multiple Myeloma March taking place this Sunday, Sept. 22 at 9 a.m., starting at Newmarket Riverwalk Commons.
What makes this extra special for us is that my cousin Kristy is the lead organizer of this event. In 2016 her husband Nic was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a little-known and incurable blood cancer of the plasma cells. The cancer became active in 2018, which lead to more than 16 weeks of induction and high-dose chemotherapy, followed by two stem cell transplants. Although the recovery has been difficult, Nic is on a maintenance treatment program and is slowly getting stronger.
The support for the event has been amazing, with the current total raised sitting at over $37,000 - currently the Top Location in Canada. And our team - Myelomaniacs - is currently the 2nd place Team in Canada! WOW!
We are so proud of all the hardwork Kristy and Nic have done organizing this event. It would mean a lot to me if my friends and family would show their support, and help help make us Team Myelomaniacs and the Newmarket event #1 across Canada!
By making a donation, you are helping to fund clinical research and to support advocacy for accelerated access to game-changing therapies for Canadian myeloma patients.
