Dear Friends and Family,
For the second year in a row, I will be participating in the Multiple Myeloma March benefiting Myeloma Canada. This year, there are two special reasons for me to do this walk and help raise awareness for this rare form of blood cancer. #1-To honour my friend Steve Beattie and #2-To support my friend Jennifer Hillier
On September 23, 2018, our friend, Steve Beattie, who was diagnosed with this rare form of cancer (in late June of 2017), organized the first March in Oshawa for Multiple Myeloma. Unfortunately, Steve loss his battle in April 2019 at the young age of 68.
A few days after his passing, my beautiful friend Jennifer, at the young age of 34, reached out to me to tell me she had been diagnosed with the same rare cancer. It's especially rare in her case because it's typically seen in elderly men. She has undergone 17 weeks of Chemo therapy and in early May a Stem Cell transplant.
Please consider making a donation to our team The Warriors. (Jenn puts it best. She's a cancer warrior rather than a cancer fighter/survivor)
There's currently no cure for this type of cancer. By making a donation to me or my team, you are helping to fund clinical research and to support advocacy for accelerated access to game-changing therapies for Canadian myeloma patients and hopefully find a cure.
Help us to reach our big fundraising goal! We would love to see a great turnout so please also consider joining our team for this walk!
