Cure Seekers

Thank you for supporting the “Cure Seekers” Team in this year's annual Ottawa-Gatineau Myeloma Walk... Steps to a Cure in support Multiple Myeloma (MM) research.

It’s been almost five years since I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in March 2015. At that time, the life expectancy of newly diagnosed patients was about five years. But here I am in a complete remission thanks to research and a trial funded by Myeloma Canada.  While a cure has not yet been found, the development and availability of new more effective drugs is encouraging and the life expectancy is now closer to 10 years!

Supporting research and raising awareness of the disease remains critical.

This year our Walk is supporting the expansion of the Ottawa General Hospital’s Car-T Cell program to treat patients with multiple myeloma. Car-T therapy is an exciting new immune treatment for patients with blood cancers, that also has the potential to eventually treat solid tumour cancers. A worthwhile investment for all cancer patients!

Your donation counts! Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal!

Warm regards,

Johanna MacDougall
