March 11

Rochester City Hall press conference at 10 a.m. Mayor Thomas Richards will read an MS Awareness Week proclamation and City Hall will light up orange for the week.

The Bilingual Latino Self-Help Group meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Upstate New York Chapter’s Rochester office, 1650 South Avenue, suite 100. This is a peer-led group to confidentially discuss concerns and questions related to living with MS.

RAMS East Social Support Group will have a paper quilt on display at the Webster Community Center, 1350 Chiyoda Drive in Webster. The theme of the quilt is The Color of MS for Me.

MS Jeopardy:Test your MS knowledge with a game of MS Jeopardy! Learn new facts, compete against friends and have fun. MS Jeopardy is an excellent way to share information about MS with people in your life who could use more information. Prizes will be awarded. March 14

The Many Faces of MS, in Latham, is a panel discussion led by Dr. James P. Wymer. Members will discuss what they do to deal with their MS. Holiday Inn Express, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Brendan Fallon, Campaign Manager for the National MS Society Upstate New York Chapter, will be speaking about MS to the Tri-Town Boys and Girls Club in Sidney at 3:30 pm. The discussion will also feature a recent graduate of the Boys and Girls Club program talking candidly about living with MS.

March 15

The 3rd Annual On the Move Luncheon at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford at noon honors ten people/groups from the Greater Rochester area who are champions in the MS movement.

Stretch and Go in Rochester from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This exercise class focuses on gentle yoga and therapeutic exercise. Standing and floor work is involved.

MS Lunch and Learn, in Albany, will feature Thomas E. Moose, PA, from the Rochester Multiple Sclerosis Center, talking about the state of MS, disease control and symptom management. It will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the National MS Society Upstate New York Chapter’s Albany office on 421 New Karner Road, suite 6. Registration is required. Stop by the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City and help spread awareness of MS to your neighbors in the Southern Tier. From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., we will be distributing information about our chapter programs in the Greater Binghamton area. We will also be asking mall patrons to “Try on MS” (use our props for a taste of what it’s like to live with MS). Wear your brightest orange and help recruit new walkers for Walk MS: 2013!

Rides of March: Grab your bike and join us for a 15 mile ride through Rochester’s Genesee River Trail (weather dependent)! You will be riding with folks who are registered for Bike MS Finger Lakes Challenge, which is at Keuka College on July 20 and 21. The training ride on March 15 is at Full Moon Vista, 661 South Avenue in Rochester, at 5:30 p.m. It’s open to anyone – ride with us as many (or as little) miles as you want.

March 16

Marketplace Mall in Rochester, “Pedal for MS” event, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Our Bike MS team members will be pedaling on behalf of clients with MS in Upstate New York. Visitors to the mall will get a chance to sign up and pedal, too! Pick up informational brochures about MS and our many programs and services.

Rides of March: Grab your bike and join us for a 15 mile ride beginning at Dick’s Bike Shop at 781 Niagara Street in Tonawanda at 10 a.m. (weather dependent). “Buffalo’s Baddest House Party to Help Cure MS” is a DIY fundraiser for the Upstate New York Chapter that will include live DJ, raffle, cash bar, and more. It’s at Statler City from 7 p.m. to (at least) 11 p.m. Click here for more details.
